Between his TV show, his seminar series and his writing, George Poveromo stays busy. But the Editor-At-Large for Salt Water Sportsman magazine did find time last week to fish for dolphin on his 28-foot Mako Marc VI out of Hillsboro Inlet.
Using tactics that he'll share at his upcoming seminar, Poveromo was able to catch a 16-pound dolphin trolling under a frigate bird in 820 feet just south of Hillsboro. The fish ate a blue-and-white Tuna Candy lure.
"Perseverance," said Poveromo, of Parkland, when asked for the keys to catching the dolphin on a day when most anglers would have given up and headed home. "That and looking for clean water and birds."
